Captured at Tokyo’s renowned Orchard Hall, ”Communion” was co – choreographed by Trinity Irish Dance Company’s Founding Artistic Director, Mark Howard and renowned percussive dancer, Sandy Silva in collaboration with the company. The work explores a synthesis of forms, blending Irish dance and body percussion, rooted in the profound power of connection. Dancers begin in traditional song and rhythmic unison, passing by one another as individuals, until the palpable energy builds as an elevated exchange of thoughts and emotions.
Indicative of Howard’s life long commitment to creating and presenting work with integrity, “Communion” is a groundbreaking piece that unlocks the possibilities for the art form. Since its inception in 1990, his nonprofit company has uniquely presented Irish step dance through a performing arts lens, combining reverence for tradition with a contemporary world vision.
